Stephen G. Formwalt is a self taught artist with a background in Floriculture and Design. For the past 28 years, Stephen has owned a retail florist and antique shop. He has slowly started to change direction in design knowing he could create his own works of art on canvas. Starting with a gift set of paints for Christmas in 2004, Stephen has taught himself with help and instruction from beginner painter books and studying master painter’s works. This past year, Stephen has been taking drawing and painting classes at Harford Community College. He specializes in florals, landscapes and abstract compositions. After Stephen sold his florist and antique business in 2008, he has been running a floral event planning service called Simply Grand Event Florals and has been painting from his home studio in Havre de Grace. Stephen is a resident artist at Arts by the Bay Gallery in Havre de Grace and shows his work at The Local Yocal Gallery in Northeast. He also has shown his art at the Residence Club Art Gallery in Bulle Rock .
